Auroville Consulting Annual Sustainability Report (FY 2022-2023)
Auroville Consulting (AVC) has released its sustainability report for the financial year 2022-23. The report highlights various initiatives aimed at reducing the organization's carbon footprint. Key achievements include:
Achieving net zero emissions for the year by offsetting 100% of its gross emissions through tree planting and excess solar generation and supply to the grid, making AVC a carbon net-zero organization for the financial year 2022-23, while fulfilling 100% of its electricity needs through rooftop solar.
Significantly reducing energy consumption, with only 25.58 kWh of electricity used per square meter of office space, which is 75% lower than the benchmark set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for similar office buildings in warm and humid climates.
Providing electric two-wheelers to all full-time team members, resulting in a remarkable 88% reduction (2,584 kg CO2e) in emissions from their daily commutes to the office compared to the previous year. Moreover, converting personal commutes to e-vehicles powered by renewable energy led to a reduction of 6,309 kgCO2e, surpassing the organization's total gross emissions.
Focusing on local sourcing for operational expenditure, with 98% spent in local areas and 91% within Auroville. This approach not only supports the local economy but also helps minimize unnecessary transport related emissions.
AVC's sustainability efforts have resulted in substantial emission reductions, energy efficiency improvements, and positive impacts on the environment and local economy.
